Vanessa Swier, LCSW (she/her/hers)

Hi, I’m Vanessa! I’m a psychotherapist but you might also call me a Self-Compassion Coach, an Emotional Wellness Warrior, or a Shame Shaker. I help people who feel stuck, forge their own path and live a life that is unapologetically theirs.

I pride myself on not being your quintessential therapist. Believe me, I tried to fit that mold but I found, time and time again, that it just didn’t feel right for how I prefer to connect with my clients. So, after years of struggling with this, I decided to ditch that method and just show up as me. I've been called a no BS kind of gal who will tell it like I see it (in a compassionate way of course). But I also love a good dose of humor and I often find that sarcastic memes are the most useful form of expression in any given moment. I like thinking outside of the box and I have a little bit of a rebel in me. I can sometimes feel like a hot mess and my potty mouth has been known to get me in trouble. But you'll still find me dropping a poignant F-bomb every once in a while. As a recovering people pleaser and perfectionist who used to hide behind my own mask of "she's got it all together," I'm inspired by clients who are challenging the limiting beliefs that have gotten in the way of them showing up as the most fulfilling version of themselves.

I encourage my clients to come as they are because here, #allvibesarewelcome. I want every person who walks in the door to feel like they can kick off their shoes and open up without feeling like they’re being analyzed or judged by me. Yes, assessment is part of the process but I strive to do this in a way that doesn’t feel like I think I’m the expert on you. Because, let’s face it...only you are the expert on you. Together, we will take my skills and your knowledge of what has and hasn’t worked for you in the past and navigate you towards your True North.

I know from my own path to wellness (which continues to be an ongoing journey), that showing up for yourself and expressing your own needs, wants, and desires can be scary. But, I also know that we all deserve to live authentically. And that includes you too!

I truly believe that practicing self-compassion will change the world. That’s why I hope you reach out today to schedule a free 20-minute consultation.
